DIY COCKTAIL: The lychee saketini

Among the bewildering world of varieties of martini, from James Bond classic to dirty to pornstar, arguably our favourite at the Bugle Towers cocktail bar is the refreshing lychee saketini, fusing classic martini vodka jolt with soothing notes of cucumber and perfumed lychee. Sake isn’t hard to find online, in specialised shops or major supermarkets.

2 fl oz vodka (or gin)
4 fl oz unfiltered sake
4 fl oz lychee juice (from tin)
Lychee (from tin)
Maraschino cherry (optional)

Fill a cocktail shaker two thirds full with ice
Add vodka, unfiltered sake, and lychee juice
Shake vigorously
Serve in a chilled martini glass
Garnish with lychee and maraschino cherry

Pimp it?
“Blush” it with an extra dash of fruit puree, mango works really well for a tropical twist
