Meet the team

The Brixton Bugle and Blog is produced by a team of mainly volunteer writers and editors.

We also rely on a network of community contributors, photographers, promoters, storytellers, historians and volunteers.

Linda Quinn

Editor

A Glaswegian by birth and a Brixtonian by residence she moved to Brixton in the 1970s and has lived through many waves of changes to the Brixton area. Linda has a background in local and national journalism as well as public relations, most recently as Director of Communications and Marketing for the Big Lottery Fund.

Harriet Onslow Delaney

Business Development Director

After many years shuttling between Asia, New York and North London Harriet moved to Brixton in 2016, finally putting down roots in a place she loves. With 20+ years of industry expertise in leading commercial art galleries and the visual arts Harriet struck out on her own in 2019; while her passion for Brixton is relatively recent, Harriet’s passion for local newspapers and the inky press runs in her blood. Her parents met in the offices of the Manchester Evening News.

Alan Slingsby

Production

Alan Slingsby moved to Brixton just as the 1981 uprising began. His nearest pub was the Effra and nearest off licence the Frontline — lost in an earlier wave of closures of treasured community establishments. Has edited newspapers for the National Union of Students and National Union of Teachers. He’s had offices in St Matthews and Bon Marché but now works from home. He makes a living designing magazines, books and anything else people will pay him for.

Anna McKie

News & politics editor

Since joining the team in January 2015, Anna has been able to combine her love of journalism with her love of the area she grew up in. She is interested in everything from politics and the environment to fashion and new bar/restaurant openings.

Nick Buglione

Food & Drink Editor

By day, digital content guy and writer, by night (and weekends) dining and cocktail aficionado, collector of everything from vintage sneakers to old typewriters, record collector (vinyl only), Arsenal fan, chronic south Londoner and father of three.

Dave Randall

Music Editor

Musician & writer. Formerly guitarist with Faithless, Sinead O'Connor, Dido and his own band Slovo. Author of the book 'Sound System'. Once described by Fox news as evil.

Philip King

Distribution

Whatever the weather, you’ll find him handing out the Bugle at the Tube on publication day. He also ensures all our distribution locations get their Bugles (and get topped up through the month).

Leslie Manasseh

Editor

Leslie is a long time Brixton resident and amateur art collector. Recently retired from full-time work as trade union official, I now have much more time to enjoy Brixton's visual treats. I don't have much time for the often lofty and elitist art world and much prefer to encourage people to experience any and all forms of art to find out for themselves what they enjoy.

Jamila Omar

Listings Editor

Although born in north London, Jamila emigrated south side over 20 years ago, considering Brixton to be her long-term spiritual home. While some live music venues have changed name or ownership, with some much-loved pubs and clubs closing down completely, she still frequents old and new haunts with a sustained vigour and passion.

Sandra Brobbey

Sports editor

Sandra is a football fan who covers sport-related stories at the Brixton Blog and has covered the occasional non-league game for the South London Press. Since she joined the team Sandra has interviewed a range of local people from boxing stars, BMX riders, football coaches and triathletes to fitness experts and community leaders.

WORK WITH US

We are always on the look out for people to join us in writing about Brixton and its community. Drop us a line if you feel this is for you.

Ideally we’re looking for people who can commit to writing regularly – maybe not every month, but to a regular schedule. However, we do also welcome single pieces if you’ve got an issue or subject you really care about.

We also have opportunities for interns and offer placements for students on journalism, media, photography and social media courses.
