Sunday 12 January 10am to 1pm

This free workshop takes place on Sundays once per month until August 2020. Plan and maintain the Greenhouses’ Kitchen Garden around the seating circle as well as the perennial kitchen garden. Learn how to grow salads, vegetables, fruit and edible flowers in your own garden, balcony or allotment mostly grown from seed. The focus is on intensive growing for small spaces and on “no-dig” gardening.

Design and maintain borders in a garden

Sunday 12 January 10am to 1pm

Free course of workshops designed to build confidence in a range of gardening jobs and to think about how to make your garden look different. The course takes place one Sunday morning per month from 10am until 1pm every month until July.

Learn all about composting

Sunday 15 Dec, Sunday 19 Jan 11am to 1pm

Free Sunday workshop – get to know all aspects of composting, theory and practice, and help your local community garden over a composting season. This is a practical course with some quite physical work – shredding and turning the heaps, barrowing manure, and mulching beds. You will learn to operate a petrol shredder, make first rate composts at home as well as brewing compost teas from Nettle and from Comfrey.

A Jolly Wassail

Saturday 18 January 2pm to 4.30pm

Make noisy shakers and wonderful wassail crowns, ready for the Jolly Wassail. When everyone is crowned and happy with their home-made instruments, participants will learn songs from wassailing musicians the Norfolk Broads. Sing to the fruit trees and make as much noise as possible, to wake up the sleeping trees and scare away any bad spirits. There will be plenty of tea, mulled cider and apple juice to warm us all up and healthy snacks to keep us going. This is for all ages and under-twos go free.

The Productive Garden

Sunday 26 January 10am to 1pm

Learn about all the edibles in the greenhouse garden. The emphasis will be on essential things to do in the month to keep your garden productive.
