Brixton Immortals domino club and Brixton Soup Kitchen are celebrating Jamaica independence day on Saturday (7 August) with a family day in the garden of their Coldharbour Lane headquarters.
The community is invited to join in music, dominoes and laughter for adults and face painting, domino classes and more for children.
S n B International Sound System and modern steel pans will provide the music and adult refreshments will be on sale.
The event runs from 1 to 7.30pm.
The Lloyd Leon community centre at 297-299 Coldharbour Lane, named for Lambeth’s first Black mayor and home to both organisations, is about to undergo a major overhaul to preserve and update its historic building.
