Young women from Brixton’s Baytree Centre gathered in the Brixton Pound café last night to celebrate A Point of View – a photographic project showing the work of homeless people using disposable cameras. They were joined by sponsors and people from other community projects.
Their project is part of Spark, a programme for 13–16 year olds run by the centre.
One of the young sparks, Nya, explained: “This year we ran a project to showcase the creativity of the homeless in Brixton. Our project is called ‘A Point of View’.
“We collected pictures that we asked homeless people to take using disposable cameras, via the Brixton Soup Kitchen.”
The pictures were collectedon 6 July and a panel seleced the best picures for the exhibition which ends today.
