Police detained a man outside the Ritzy in Brixton’s Windrush square shorty before 8am this morning (28 October) after an incident in which a Black woman said she was racially abused and spat at.

Witnesses said the man was also making Hitler-style salutes.

The Metropolitan said later in a statement that they were called at 07.49 to the junction of Coldharbour Lane and Brixton Road.

A man and woman reported that they had been racially abused and spat at by a man after they had confronted him over a dropped cigarette butt.

Police said a taser was deployed and discharged.
