Windrush jazz and ska Sunday events at Brixton’s Market House that began at the start of November are to continue as a permanent fixture as a result of public demand, says organiser Ray Carless.

“We decided to continue the live music sessions and, at the same time, maximise enjoyment by adding a couple of new features,” he says.

First is a ska, bluebeat and reggae workshop for horn players of an intermediate standard.

Second is a ska, bluebeat and reggae dance workshop courtesy of dance teacher Jahla.

Jamaican sax man Ray Carless and Club Skaaville Allstars will continue to entertain with Windrush generation-related narratives and dialogues, strategically woven into the compelling and varied repertoire of vintage classic Jamaican music.

Ray and his talented group of Caribbean musicians revisit the 50s and 60s to play Windrush jazz – the unique sounds created by Jamaican music legends like Don Drummond, Ernest Ranglin, Skatalites and Tommy McCook etc.
