Vegan baker Ms Cupcake is doing its bit for Veganuary and neighbouring Brixton food retailers with its team’s guide to their top local vegan food and drink spots.

Market Row

Kuku, 14-E

Persian-inspired kitchen, serving home-cooked food, salads and desserts. Top Tip: try their homemade sausage rolls, made fresh each day.

Yum D, 14-D

Thai deli and café with lots of vegan options. Everything is made from scratch including gyoza dumplings, tempura vegetables and Thai curries.

Kamome, 14-C

Casual restaurant serving home style, Japanese food at low prices. The vegan options are clearly labelled on the menu, including seaweed salad and tofu teriyaki.

Casa Morita, 9

Serves classic Mexican dishes which can be made vegan on request. They also serve cocktails and have a 5-7pm happy hour.

Franco Manca, 4

Neopolitan style pizzeria famous for its sourdough pizzas. Pizza Number 1 is vegan, or ask for any of the vegetarian ones to be made without cheese to make it vegan.

 

Brixton Village

Senzala Creperie, 42

French crepes with Brazilian flair with savoury and sweet options. All of the vegan dishes are clearly marked on the menu. Top Tip: make sure you try the acai bowl for dessert – it’s been tested and approved by one of Ms Cupcake’s Brazilian team members.

Federation Coffee, 77-78

Local café serving speciality coffee and freshly made snacks, cakes and savoury dishes. They use Bonsoy milk as an alternative when making your coffee. Top Tip: try their hot chocolate.

The Oracle’s Organic Juice Bar, 60

Fully vegan café and juice bar serving mostly raw and organic food. They have a variety of freshly made juices, smoothies and salads.

Mama Lan, 18

Small Chinese street food restaurant serving handmade dumplings, noodle soups and salads. The vegan options are clearly marked on the menu.

Bar and restaurant serving a fusion of Caribbean flavours with a British twist.

Pan-Asian restaurant serving Thai, Malay and Chinese food. Lots of vegan options on the menu and great cocktails.

The Courtesan – 69-73 Atlantic Road, SW9 8PU

Dim sum restaurant with modern and classic dishes. There are plenty of vegan options as well as cocktails and teas.

Mama Dough – 354 Coldharbour Lane, SW9 8QH

Great tasting sourdough pizzas and a selection of homemade desserts.

Pop Brixton – 49 Brixton Station Road, SW9 8PQ

Pop’s variety of street food restaurants serve many different cuisines. Most of the stalls have vegan options.

Brixton Wholefoods – 59 Atlantic Road, SW9 8PU

Health food store and Brixton institution that has been selling organic fruit and vegetables plus herbs, spices and supplements for decades.
