To celebrate Brixton Windmill’s 200th anniversary, and the spring opening of Brixton Windmill to the public, the Friends of Windmill Gardens (FOWG) are organising a Brixton-wide treasure hunt with the chance to win a cash prize.

The treasure hunt, a tactical team challenge, takes place on Saturday 26 March. A series of clues will take “hunters” around over 50 sites in Brixton, ending at Brixton Windmill. The treasure hunt is open to all ages and provides the opportunity to learn more about Brixton’s history, community and townscape as well as join in the fun and competition. Participants will need a map of Brixton, paper and a pen or pencil, and a camera to complete the challenge.

Teams of up to five people are being invited to enter the hunt. Entry costs £5 per adult, £3 for 12-18 year olds and 0-11s free.

Jean Kerrigan, Chair of Friends of Windmill Gardens said: “The Treasure Hunt is an appropriate way to mark Brixton Windmill’s opening for the summer and its bi-centenary year and its place as one of Brixton’s greatest treasures. The participants will learn about places around the area and have a chance to win prizes and we hope have lots of fun as well as being challenged by mysterious clues.”
