Two more useful Brixton traders are to close to make way for flats, the Brixton Society reports. They are plumbers merchants Plumbase in Stockwell Green and Diamond plumbing supplies near Tesco on Acre Lane
Lexadon, the Lambeth-based landlord, has acquired Diamond. Its scheme involves 27 “high spec residential units” for rent and three commercial units.
The Surrey-based developer Walbury Estates has bought the Plumbase site and held a pre-planning public consultation at Stockwell Resource Centre on 7 December. It promises 25 market-price homes for sale.
Pre-planning consultation on Lexadon’s scheme will be at its premises at 419 Coldharbour Lane on 12 December.
I’ve been using Diamond plumbers merchants for 20 years. They’re a really well-used local resource. Independent merchants, not part of a big chain, helpful, knowledgable staff, good prices, excellent stock levels. I’ll really miss this shop, they’re so much better than the big chains like Plumbcenter. I’m sure there’s many other local plumbers who’ll be feeling the same way I do 🙁
Wow, this is fast becoming the London Borough of Lexadon, monopolies issue?
