Users, supporters and friends of Brixton’s Minet Library on Knatchbull Road gathered last night to oppose Lambeth Council’s proposal to close the library and sell off the land. The closure of Minet Library is just one of many controversial proposals put forward by Lambeth Council in their Culture 2020 proposal. Lambeth residents still have a chance to respond to the proposal, but must submit their response no later than 11pm on Friday 24th April.
The meeting included readings from local authors Gabriel Badamosi and Leslie-Ann Jones and was also attended by Kate Hoey MP and former Vassall ward councillor, Kingsley Abrahams (now standing in Bishops Ward).
