Brixton Rooftop will mount its last gig at the end of this month and we understand that the shops below it on Popes Road have been given notice by Sports Direct which bought the site last summer.
Sports Direct told the Blog at the time that the intention is to build a new store for the company on the site.
Recent reports have said that the company is also frontrunner to buy the neighbouring Brixton Village.
Network Rail announced recently that it is to sell its railway arches all over the UK to fund improvements to the railway infrastructure and traders in arches along Brixton Station Road are facing large rent increases.
A report for Lambeth council proposing to extend the lease of Pop Brixton until November 2020, says that “the start of projected development programme for the Brixton Central masterplan has now extended to early 2021”.
