Hundreds of schoolchildren delighted in having the day off today, as schools were turned into polling stations in the Brixton Hill by-election.

Residents in Brixton Hill ward now have until 10pm to cast their vote for a councillor to replace Steve Reed, who left the neighbourhood to become MP for Croydon North.

Each of the seven candidates has written a short piece for the Brixton Blog here, and also recorded a brief video about what they’d do to address unemployment in the area.

By 11.30am today, only 120 people had turned up to Sudbourne primary school to vote at the polling station. For a full list of polling station see the council website.

Brixton Blog will be at the count tonight, which starts at the Town Hall, Brixton Hill, at 10pm. A result is expected at around midnight.
