The weather’s not great, so escape from the cold and rain into the cinema. Here are two recommendations for you tonight
Take One: The Handmaid’s Tale @ Minet Library Film Club
Can a good book be turned into a good film? That’s the theme of the Minet Library’s current film club season. Tonight they are showing the ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’, starring Natasha Richardson. Adapted from Margaret Attwood’s dystopian 1985 novel, the screenplay was written by Attwood and Harold Pinter.
The Handmaid’s Tale at Minet Library Film Club, 52 Knatchbull Rd, 6.30pm, free
Take Two: Searching for Sugarman @ Ritzy
This is a much-praised documentary about the musician Rodriguez, one of the greatest 70s rock icons – who no-one has heard of nowadays – and bigger than the Beatles in 1970s South Africa. Two South African filmmakers set out to find out what happened to Rodriguez and where his fame went in ‘Searching for Sugarman‘.
Searching for Sugarman at the Ritzy, 7pm and 9.10pm
