The National Union of Students has teamed up with Jamm for a warm-up gig ahead of its United for Education national demonstration on 19 November. Over 45s charity Silver Fit offer Silver Cheerleading for all fitness levels led by Zoe and members of the fabulous London Cheerleaders, who bring their silver pom-poms along for a great fun workout. Cheerleading is good for everyone – women and men – and is brilliant exercise but not too strenuous. It requires cooperation, communication, and regular social interaction – all helping to make friends and enjoy peer support, reducing the risks or depression and anxiety, and even improving sleep. Film screening and director introduction. Showing of Every Cook Can Govern, introduced by the film’s director. The first feature-length documentary to explore the life, writings and politics of the great Trinidadian born revolutionary CLR James who died in Brixton in 1989. The film interweaves exclusive, never-before-seen footage of James with unique testimony from those he knew and the world’s most eminent scholars on James’ life, works and politics. A feature-length documentary that grapples with issues from colonialism to cricket, from slavery to Shakespeare, from Marxism to the movies and from reading to revolution. 7.30pm.
