Help sustain the B£ and launch the Brixton Community Lottery!

Brixton-pounds-credit-Charlie-Waterhouse-This-Aint-RocknRoll-385x250This weekend will see the first mini Made in Lambeth project to help the Brixton Pound launch a community lottery.

The event, scheduled for this Saturday (January 18), invites any passionate, efficient and creative people to get involved. Graphic designers are also being encouraged to attend in relation to the branding element of the challenge.

Held upstairs at Jalisco (formerly El Panzon) in Brixton Village from 10am-4pm, a free burritos lunch will be provided for all participants.

The Made in Lambeth team need your help in two key ways:

  1. The community lottery needs a compelling brand name, visual identity and marketing ideas
  2. To design a simple, fair and accessible process to allocate the funds raised by the lottery.

By helping the B£ in these ways, you help to secure the funding for the community lottery as well as great causes in the area.

Although it is hailed as Brixton’s local currency, the four year old Brixton Pound (B£) needs to increase its usage in order to become truly sustainable.

Alongside raising money for positive causes in the area such as local groups or social enterprises, it also offers a sustainable future for the Pound itself by putting more in circulation.

To get involved or register your interest, the Made in Lambeth team are accessible via twitter @madeinlambeth or through their email: team@lambeth.coop to let them know you’re coming along.
