The German sportswear brand BSTN is to open its first UK store in the former NatWest bank premises at 395/397 Brixton Road.
Scheduled for an April opening, the shop will be BSTN’s first outside Germany.
Advertised at a rent of £140,000 a year, the two-storey building constructed in 2000 was let by real estate company Savills “on behalf of a private client”. The registered owner of the site is the North London based Mill Property Company.
BSTN has signed a 10-year lease on the 3,000-plus square foot premises at the junction of Brixton Road and Beehive Place.
Savills said: “BSTN is quickly becoming one of the most high-profile sportswear brands in Europe, with exceptionally strong sales figures and a world-class social media following.
“In spite of its highly established e-commerce operation, BSTN has prioritised opening a debut bricks and mortar store here in the UK, and Brixton Road in London is the ideal location for this.”
Roberto Aufiero, CEO and co-founder of BSTN, said: “We’re thrilled to start the next chapter of BSTN’s journey by expanding our unique premium sportswear philosophy to London.
“We’re looking forward to getting even closer to our community and will do our very best to make a positive contribution to the neighbourhood.”
Brixton’s NatWest is now at 504 Brixton Road, at the corner with Brighton Terrace.
