Small Plates: Brixton’s foodie news round-up

Tequila Mockingbird
New cocktail practitioners in town. Former Dip & Flip on Atlantic Road is now home to the Tequila Mockingbird guys and their decadent cocktail creations. And for the Brixton outpost, food on the menu too. Wings, burgers et al to keep your martinis company. tequilamock.com | @Tequila_Mock

Black Bear Burger
Bucking the trend for the de-burgerisation of Brixton, Liz and Stew of Black Bear Burger will be bringing their sizzling creations to a new perma-home in Brixton Village with an emphasis on high welfare, high quality British meat (Stew’s family run a beef farm in Devon). Keeps Honest and the rest … honest.

Haloburger
POP’s plant-based burger joint Halo have added some innovations to their vegan burgers. How about a deep-fried, cornflake and biscuit coated vegan magnum ice cream or chicken nuggets that aren’t? Meat-free dining isn’t going anywhere and these guys apparently are even convincing carnivores.

London Cocktail Club
If you want your cocktails turned into a semi-immersive movie-themed big night out, get yourself to Clapham High Street for the latest outpost of the London Cocktail Club, who have taken a night with some drinks up a cinematic notch.

Souvlaki Street
Quite the biggest queue last of times we have lunched at POP, Souvlaki Street is giving Mikos a run for its money with authentic Greek souvlaki. Try the classic combo of marinated (with their secret rub) pork or chicken skewers, in pitta with all the red onion, parsley, oregano, paprika and Tzatziki trimmings.
