(sponsored Blogpost) For those who only know the Brockwell Lido as a place for a summer dip, you are invited to get to know it indoors as well as out. There is a lot more on offer right now than an icy midwinter swim
Fusion Lifestyle, the Lido’s not-for-profit managers, are offering free taster sessions in an activity of your choosing. It is part of their KickStart 2018 campaign across all Fusion managed local authority sports centres.
So what’s on at our local Lido in Brockwell Park? You can try out the gym equipment with the guidance of one of their friendly trainers – or you could join in one of the many classes on offer.
They come under 3 categories: Mind and Body brings you the quieter options of Stretch and Tone, Body Balance, Tai Chi, Pilates and Yoga with both pre natal and mother & baby yoga classes as options.
Then there is Strength and Conditioning which includes among others Box Fit (yup it’s gloves on), Body Pump (barbell workouts) and that workout ‘du jour’, HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training)
And for the more rhythmically inclined in the Cardio and Fitness category, there is Total Barre (lower body work based on ballet moves) Zumba (an enduring Latino favourite) , and Soca aerobics – promising ‘a hip gyrating, torso oscillating, bumper jumping cardiovascular workout to Caribbean music.’ What’s not to like …
You can find the full selection of classes by clicking on this link.
And as for the Lido gym. It has been kept up to date with the latest equipment – clean and refreshingly cool. The bikes for the spin classes have been moved to their own room leaving more floorspace for you to do some quiet mat work in between workouts. And outside through the glass you have a view of the azure waters of the 50metre Olympic length Lido as you slog it out on the cross trainer.
Worth having a go? Follow the link and simply fill out your details to let them know when you would like to come and visit. Choose from a gym session, a class or (if you are really hardy and in possession of a wetsuit) a swim session. They will then give you a call ahead of your visit to confirm your activity. If you are not a Brixton local, put in your postcode on the Fusion website and find a gym or pool nearer your home or workplace as this offer applies to all their facilities.
TOP TIP: If you then decide to become a Lido member there are two things worth remembering. 1) If you and a friend decide to join together – don’t! Just ONE of you join and then add your companion’s name as a referral. You will get an extra month’s membership free as a reward. Buy them a nice meal. 2) there is a promotion of no £35 Lido joining fee throughout March (plus advance warning of a possible price rise in April).
And to remind you that the Brockwell Lido still belongs to the community and has been hard fought for, read its history on the Blog here
The offer sounds great: extra month’s membership free if joining with a friend !!! The problem is that my best friend is lazy. I have to find a way to convince her.
