Lambeth council and Brixton’s Business Improvement District launched a competition as part of the Brixton Design Trail to create and install a new design for the northern Brixton Road railway bridge. The bridge’s existing mural “B OUR GUEST” is not looking very inviting.
According to the brief, “The bridge design should become an impactful landmark, signalling arrival into the area, creating a sense of event.” This is the third project supported by the London Mayor’s High Street Fund, the others were the neon Electric Avenue sign and the Pope’s Road bridge sign.
The competition is open to artists and designers with a track record of delivering artwork of comparable scale in the public realm. Interested parties need to register interest at firstname.lastname@example.org. The closing date is Friday 17 November. Further details here.
