Brixton’s Maytree children’s centre joined with staff from the Alexander Rose charity to celebrate the success of Brixton Market’s Rose Voucher fruit and veg scheme.
Lunch was cooked by Rose Voucher families with fresh ingredients from the market.
The scheme, which is overseen by Stuart Horwood, CEO of Brixton Market Traders Federation, allows families to trade vouchers issued by the charity for fruit and veg from participating market stalls.
Alexander Rose chief executive Jonathan Pauling said: “To date we have 180 families and given out £35,000 worth of vouchers.
“The plan is to increase the numbers of families to 250 over the next year.”
T-shirts with #RunforRose on the back were distributed in support of Carola Fekter who is running the London Marathon in aid of the charity.
