    Pop Brixton launches Pop Farm on Sunday

    Thursday 17 March: What was it like to be a Black woman in Victorian England? Join the Black Cultural Archives for an evening talk that explores the narratives of four black women living in the Victorian era. Tickets £7. 7pm – 8.30pm.

    Friday 18: Pop Brixton hosts a St Patrick’s Day shindig with an evening of live music across different stages. Irish dancing, Guinness punch and food specials. Moster Ceildh Band, Josh Flowers, Boondock and more will be performing. Free. 7pm to midnight.

    Saturday 19: Friends of Windmill Gardens have been successful in gaining funding from the Mayor of London to organise free tai chi exercise sessions in Windmill Gardens, Brixton Hill, on Saturday mornings. Tai chi is a gentle form of exercise that helps with breathing, encourages movement among those who may not be able to access conventional exercise classes and is extremely helpful in dealing with stress. They started on 16 January and continue for 13 weeks. Free. 11am-12 noon.

    JezWeKhan is a mayoral campaigning social for Sadiq Khan in Brixton Jamm with food, drink and speakers including Owen Jones. Free. 6pm to 10pm.

    Black History as Therapuetic Practice is a lecture by Rashid Nix on treating mental illness among BME at the Black Cultural Archives. 6-9pm.

    Sunday 20: After a sleep over the winter, Portals returns to The Windmill for an incredible lineup of alternative, experimental, math & post-rock including AKDK + Wot Gorilla? + Alright The Captain. £7. All tickets include food from the BBQ, which runs till about 7pm. Starts 4pm.

    Pop Brixton will be hosting a public event to celebrate the launch of Pop Farm, a new project that will bring a new community garden and growing centre to the heart of Brixton. Attendees can help sow seeds and plant seedlings into the brand new flowerbeds, and create beautiful plant pots to take home for free. From 11am to 3pm. Free.
