Antic, the south London pub group who own the Effra Social and Dogstar, are opening their new bar in Brixton this month.
Ekcovision, an “all day and all night venue”, is on 15 Atlantic Road, previously home to Atlantis and Brixton Bar & Grill.
It will open on June 25.
Antic said: “The 11am – 6am licence means it will assume a multitude of different guises. It will be a place where one can enjoy a coffee and bite to eat during the day, beer and cocktail of an evening, a late night solace when the rest of Brixton has closed its doors where one can dance and drink into the wee small hours, and then do it all again the next day.”
15 Atlantic Road is part of the properties which Network Rail will be refurbishing next year.
The businesses between Brixton Station Road, Atlantic Road and Pope’s Road will be evicted while the work is carried out and are likely to face steep rent increases when they return, which few will be able to afford.
A spokesperson for Antic told the Brixton Blog they, like the other businesses, have not heard much from Network Rail about its refurbishment plans.
“We are a little in the dark at the moment as to Network Rail’s movements,” the spokesperson said. “So we are continuing with the project regardless and will act accordingly once we know more about its refurbishment plans.”
Maybe NWR gave them a special reduced rent if they refurbished it themselves – which it looks like they are doing…. http://ekcovision.com/
