Sandblast charity will be hosting an event to promote participation in their annual sports event, taking place in refugee camps in Algeria.
Run the Sahara, which will take place from February 21 to 28 in 2014, is run in conjunction with the Sahara marathon. Participants will not only be able to run the marathon but will also be provided with cultural and educational activities in the Saharawi refugee camp.
The Run the Sahara project is Sandblast charity’s main fundraiser for their music project Studio-live, which facilitates the creation of music by Saharawi refugees.
The charity is looking for 20 participants for the 2014 Run the Sahara event to help them raise £20,000 that they will use to buy five mobile sound recording studios.
The promotional event will be held in Café Cairo, 88 Landor Road, on Saturday October 19 from 6 to 8 PM and will feature training sessions with UK short distance running champion Daniel Davies as well as talks from previous Run the Sahara participants. There will also be a raffle with prizes provided by partner organization Lush.
