    Monday Upstairs at the Ritzy hosts a craft night showcasing the work of Brixton-based craftspeople and artists. Come along from 7:30pm to sample crafts such as sculpture, tile printing and glass jewellery making and browse the unique handmade wares on sale.

    Tuesday Brixton Book Lovers is a new book club which meets at the Crown and Anchor on the last Tuesday of the month. Join other book lovers at 7pm for literary company, discussion and drinks.

    Wednesday Enjoy a sneaky preview of some of the finest comedy the Edinburgh Fringe has to offer, right in the middle of Brixton. We Love Comedy at Effra Social brings you the comedic talents of David Mills, Ben Target and other lauded laugh inducers.Starts 7:30pm,  £5 otd.

    effra social 1Thursday Get Low at the Dogstar is a regular freebie night trying singlehandedly to make Thursday the new Friday with its mix of guest DJs, weekly genre changes and good vibes. 9pm – 2am.

    Friday Swing Patrol return for their monthly blues cruise upstairs at the Ritzy, catering for all tastes with a sprinkling of Delta, Chicago, Texas, Louisiana and other styles. Tickets are £10 advanced and £12 otd – not exactly a steal – but if you’re true blue you’ll get your money’s worth by enjoying all 5 hours of live music and social dancing. Starts 8pm.

    Saturday 29th Brixton Station Road market is today transformed into a playground of adventure and discovery for children. There’ll be workshops and activities for children aged 3-12 (including some run by Bugle ed Tim Dickens), info stalls from some wonderful children’s projects and services, with traders selling treats & treasure for everyone.

    Sunday Tuck into a splendid roast at Gremio de Brixton’s Spanish Sundays. Their Sunday best features delicacies such as suckling pig, cheese-stuffed peppers and of course paella. Our mouths are already watering at the prospect.
