Work has started on painting a distinctive mural in Windmill Gardens, Brixton.
Despite the bad weather work began on the artwork on April 10, with artist and designer Camila Cardenosa working with local residents, friends and supporters.
Inmates from Brixton Prison, next door, have also been allowed to lend a hand. Last weekend Brixton Windmill was also open for guided tours while the painting took place.
Members of the community are invited to get involved over the next three weekends in April (20, 21, 27, 28). The final unveiling of the mural will be celebrated with ‘Hands on Windmill Gardens’ Mural launch at Windmill Gardens on Monday May 6. The completion of the mural will be celebrated with a party including music and activities suitable for all the family. Brixton Windmill will be open for free guided tours.
