Look out for the Foodbank this Saturday, September 8, setting up a stall for food donations at Tesco on Acre Lane all day.
The Brixton Foodbank, at St Paul’s Church on Ferndale Road, supports people in need of sustenance who have been referred by GPs, social workers and other professionals. Along with its Norwood partner, the foodbank feeds over 100 people a week, from refugees to homeless people to the recently unemployed.
As the effects of the economic crisis deepen, the Foodbank has found itself feeding more and more people in desperate need of help. The Brixton branch opened after the Norwood Foodbank became unable to cope with demand.
If you’re free to help for an hour or two on Saturday, please contact norwoodfoodbank@btinternet.com
If you don’t manage to make it on Saturday 8, you can always donate to the Foodbank in St Paul’s Church, 184 -188 Ferndale Road, Brixton; open on Tuesdays from 10.30am – 1.30pm and Saturdays from 11am to 2pm. People in need can obtain vouchers to exchange for food from their GPs, social workers, teachers, faith leaders and other care professionals.
