Your guide to what’s happening in Brixton this week
Monday 26 October: Australian band We Came From Wolves land at The Windmill as part of their third UK tour. Supported by Rat the Magnificent and Gears. Doors 7.30 pm. £4/5.
Monday 26: Free tango classes at Art Nouveau, Atlantic Road. Taster class 7.15 pm to 8 pm, practice until 10 pm.
Tuesday 27: Effra Social’s weekly pub quiz is brought to you by question master Tommy McArdle. £5 per team, cash prize for the winner prizes for second and second to last place. 8 pm to 11 pm.
Tuesday 27: Head down to Brixton Bloc for the life drawing and film club – this week with a halloween theme. Life drawing 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm, £5. Afterwards watching some spooky shorts, including Disney’s Skeleton Dance, Tim Burton’s Vincent and Buñuel & Dalí’s Un Chein Andalou. Enjoy spooky snacks and frightening tales. The screening starts at 8pm and will finish around 9.30pm, £1.
Tuesday 27: In-Cahoots Film Fest is running Black History meets Halloween short film fest. A celebration through short film with live Director Q+A’s at Whirled Cinema in Brixton. The evening will also include “Diversity on screen Discussion: Black History the Full Picture” with special guest commentary.
Thursday 29: As part of Black History Month, Tate South Lambeth Library is screening Look How Far We’ve Come, a film in which history consultant Kwaku examines the question of equality for young people. It features interviews with MPs David Lammy, Dawn Butler and Dianne Abbott and Sam King MBE about their experiences in the movement towards equality. Starts 5 pm. Free.
Thursday 29 & Friday 30: Half-term kids chocolate making workshops at The Chocolate Museum. Children can learn how to make and decorate their own chocolates, truffles and lollipops with fun fillings, decorations and lolly sticks. £9 per child, 3 pm to 4 pm. Email info@thechocolatemuseum.co.uk.
Friday 30: Loud Women is new gig night at the Veg Bar and features all-woman and female-fronted punk/rock/pop bands. Performing this Friday are: Dream Nails, Argonaut and The Ethical Debating Society. DJ Dapper D aka Debbie Smith until midnight. Doors 7.30 pm, £5 entry.

Sunday 1 November: This week yoga brunch has a Halloween theme. The afternoon will begin with a chilled yoga session, followed by Blood Thirsty Mary’s and a spooky inspired seasonal feast from the lovely Pickled Plates girls. There will be a haunting playlist to accompany some of our Halloween favourites- Pumpkins galore and gouley trick or treat bags to take away. Brixton East Gallery, 1 pm to 4 pm. £30 for yoga and brunch.
