Monday 8: For the brave only. Start the week with an early morning dip in Brockwell Lido pool, now open from 6:45am with a spring/summer timetable. And for those hardy enough to brave the nippy waters, the Lido cafe is offering 50% off swimmers’ hot drinks until the end of April whenever the water is at or below 10 degrees. Brrrrrrrilliant.

Tuesday 9: After the Brixton Square controversies you can make sure your voice is heard on what happens to the Somerleyton Road development. This community workshop focuses on creating opportunities for employment, training and local businesses. 7pm – 8:30pm at Lambeth Volunteer Centre, 35 Brixton Station Rd.

Wednesday 10: Small trees for little people. At the Hanami workshop in Brockwell Park your kids will have the chance to make a wire bonsai tree and decorate it with paper cherry blossoms. They will also learn the qualities of tranquility and zen perseverance (OK, we made that up). Booking essential. £5 per child. Discounts available for unwaged.

Thursday 11: Take advantage of Photofusion’s later closing time on Thursdays (7pm) and check out the Isabelle Pateer exhibition. The culmination of 5 years’ work documenting the decline of a Belgian village near Antwerp, our reviewer said it was ‘not to be missed’.

Friday 12: Electric Brixton brings you Havana D’Primera, sizzling hot from Cuba with trumpets in tow. Tickets available on the Electric Brixton website, early booking advisable. Tickets £22.

Saturday 13: Brixton Makers’ Market is piled high with beautiful homemade wares, from jewellery and skincare to homeware, and most importantly, cake! Brixton Station Road, 10am to 5pm.

Sunday 14: Your last chance to enjoy the Made In Prague season of Czech cinema at the Ritzy. Lidice is the haunting tale of its eponymous Czech village, razed by Nazi troops in an act of genocide. The film examines whether survival at the cost of dignity and freedom can ever be considered a victory. 1pm.
