Stockwell Urban Oasis is a community gardening project which meets every weekend at the Oasis adventure playground in Larkhall Lane. The group has blossomed from its origins planting orchards across south London and is currently crowdsourcing fundraising through Spacehive to create an “edible forest garden” at the Oasis site. They’ve so far raised around £2,000 of their £2,900 total. Excellent, you say!
BUT!…
If they don’t reach their total by 15th February, then none of the donations will be collected (that’s how Spacehive works – in order to push people to reach their goals!). So please donate generously to this wonderful project: http://spacehive.com/stockwellurbanoasis
Founder of Stockwell Urban Oasis, Kam-Lyn Chak, describes how they were initially ‘asked to plant an orchard at Oasis, but the project has continued and developed into a forest garden / permaculture design. It has been really interesting to work on this design as we have had to factor in that it is primarily an adventure playground used by both able bodied and disabled children.’
One of the things they’re hoping to do with the money is to ‘build a giant planting mound with a grassy section that is for rolling down and a tunnel going through it!’ Kam-lyn says that she hopes that the garden will ‘provide lots of different educational and play opportunities, and that it will grow into a valuable space of natural beauty and bio-diversity and help make sure that the Oasis play venture will be around for future generations.’
Support this great project now and help them reach their total!
