Pre-Valentine Lovers Rock Affair @ Brixton Jamm [10/02/13]

Lovers Rock – a particular brand of romantic reggae that flourished in the UK in the late 70s and 80s – bounced back into the spotlight last year with Menelik Shabazz’ excellent documentary The Story of Lovers RockAnd the revival continues apace this month with a special event put together by the folks at Worldbeat Music.

Those looking for the perfect excuse to get warmed up and into the romantic Valentine vibe early should look no further than Brixton Jamm (261 Brixton Road) on Sunday February 10, where there will be a star-studded night of authentic reggae from 8pm until late.

BBC Three Counties Radio Reggae Presenter DJ Warm and Easy and Galaxy Radio’s Selector C will be on the decks playing the ultimate in Reggae & Lovers Rock sounds from around the globe, with exciting  live PA’s from Peter Spence, Helen Rogers, Frederica Tibbs, DJ Lantan, Andrew Sloley, Robbie Valentine and Dennis Pinnock plus surprise special guests.

There will also be a free draw on the night, which will include great prizes such as a romantic dinner for two at Negril (the  awesome Caribbean restaurant situated at 132 Brixton Hill.)
