Redesigned Hope & Anchor open again

The Hope & Anchor on Acre Lane in Brixton reopened at the start of the month after a redesign.

Describing itself as a “stylish all-day drinking and dining pub”, it offers “cocktails, generous sharers, vibrant menus showcasing quality, seasonal produce, a new Sunday roast offering.”

It also has “one of London’s most expansive beer gardens”.

The redesign mixes modern detailing with traditional features in homage to “the great British pub”, from reclaimed tiles and distressed walls in terracotta, green and neutral tones to dark oak panelling, velvet curtains, leather booths and low-back sofa seating.

The garden has been transformed into “an alpine winter wonderland” in time for rock-around-the-Christmas-tree parties with 13 private tiki huts and heaters.

Menus have also had an upgrade and showcase quality British ingredients with a “modern Brixton twist”, including Electric brisket croquettes, crispy haddock tacos with pickled fennel and Turkish urfa chilli, smash burgers, chicken Parmesan supreme with torn burrata and marinara sauce, plus Starman shepherd’s pie with clotted cream mash.

Sunday roast choices include rare beef or succulent chicken, with roasties, double egg Yorkshires and seasonal vegetables. Smaller sizes are available for children.

The bar serves beer, wine and “creative cocktails”.

A late-night upstairs bar, The Rebel Room, has a dance floor and lounge area and is available for private hire. A section can be cordoned off to create a VIP area.
