Alex Wheatle, the Bard of Brixton, will this week be on stage at the Globe Theatre on London’s South Bank that was established to honour Shakespeare, the Bard of Avon.
He is taking part in the family festival Shakespeare’s Telling Tales.
Renowned, like Shakespeare, for his brilliant dialogue and thrilling plots, Alex Wheatle will be joined by actor Clarrie Mae for an afternoon of storytelling, discussion and live performance. He was the winner of the 2016 Guardian children’s fiction prize.
The hour-long event will explore three of his many critically acclaimed books – Liccle Bit, Crongton Knights and Straight Outta Crongton, his latest.
It is in the Globe’s atmospheric Sam Wanamaker Playhouse – an authentic recreation of a Jacobean theatre – at 4.15 pm on Friday 27 July.
All tickets are £10 each and under-16s must be accompanied by an adult. Suitable for children 12 and upwards.
