Guest speaker actor Miriam Margolyes OBE will address this year’s Age UK Lambeth’s Annual Public Meeting. The meeting takes place on Tuesday 11 October 2016 at 11am. 336 Brixton Road, ground floor, London SW9 7AA. A light lunch will be provided. Lambeth Age UK’s Celebrating Age Festival this month has over 70 events for residents over 55. The festival starts on the United Nations International Day of Older Persons on 1 October.
The programme ranges from a celebration of Black History Month to a trip on the Emirates cable car across the Thames and includes films, concerts, dances, trips and exhibitions, many in Brixton.
The festival will launch with a party at Montgomery Hall at the Oval with refreshments, fun and dancing to the sounds of the 50s and 60s.
Highlights throughout the month include performances by the Beautiful Mess Theatre Company; a free concert by the London Symphony Orchestra; trips to the Victoria & Albert Museum, including one to see Undressed: A Brief History of Underwear; a silent comedy festival at the Cinema Museum; and the annual Information Day at Gracefield Gardens Health & Social Care Centre in Streatham.
