After a successful pop up stint at weekends at Market House, The Duck Egg cafe are back to serving seven days a week across the road at the Prince of Wales.
Their new found experience in the pub environment means they’ve perfected their Sunday roasts as well as their breakfasts and brunches and there’s something for everyone including burgers and lasagne.
I popped in on the first day just to see if standards were as high as before and am pleased to report they are. I was delighted with my poached duck eggs on toast and to see all the same staff in their new home as well as a few other daytime regulars who’d been missing it.
I have to admit I also enjoyed the extra space the Prince of Wales offered and I suspect it will become popular with people pining for the working space of Kaff Bar and parents with buggies who find many daytime venues tricky to navigate otherwise.
The Duck Egg are in residence Monday to Friday 9am t0 3pm and Saturday and Sundays 9am to 4pm or until the roasts sell out. But you can stay for a drink and some live jazz which your average greasy spoon rarely offers!
