Brixton Topcats basketball team has a new chairman at its helm. Head Women’s Coach Steve Vear has been appointed as chairman of the team after former chairman Andy Powlesland announced he was relocating out of London. Topcats founder, Jimmy Rogers, said: “Steve is a great, honest and passionate person who simply loves the game of basketball. He has been an asset since joining us with new ideas and concepts for the club. He is very well respected within the basketball community and has been instrumental in taking Luol’s Foundation to the forefront of UK basketball. I expect him to do the same for the Brixton Topcats. I couldn’t be happier with the new appointment and I look forward to working with Steve in taking the club forward in the right direction.”
The women’s senior team will be holding try-outs from 8-10pm on Wednesday July 16 and Wednesday July 23 at the Brixton Rec. Men’s try-outs will take place on July 30 and August 6.
