A Brixton-based charity is inviting students to get involved in campaigning for women’s rights, by joining their student ambassador scheme.
Eaves for Women is holding an open evening to raise awareness about the services they offer and encourage attendees to get involved in the scheme.
The charity supports vulnerable women who have experienced domestic violence, and specialise in supporting women and girls who have been sex trafficked, survivors of sexual violence and supporting those who are trying to exit prostitution.
Eaves have highlighted the impact of involvement in the scheme, saying volunteers will “work on issues affecting women and raise vital funds for Eaves whilst having a valuable and rewarding experience.
Student ambassadors represent Eaves at their college or university and will be expected to support the charity in one of the following ways:
- Organising a sponsored challenge in the UK or abroad. This could be running the marathon or a sponsored cycle in Vietnam.
- Running an event. The event could range from organising a car boot sale to putting on a play or a performance, or starting a society.
Eaves have also said that the open evening will also provide “the opportunity to meet other students across London who are involved and interested in women’s issues and rights”.
The open evening is on March 26th from 6-8pm at the Eaves offices on Brixton Road

What would be a good suggestion for dog breeds then? I dont want to contribute to ataxia or osteocarcoma, bronchial problems, or anything like that. Id like a dog but I want to know ways to ensure the breeder I find isnt a mill. Are there criteria I should look for when gauging a breeder? Statements or questions I should ask?
I hadnt really thought about making the profile picture something more human. I think its a great idea.
This wasnt one of the topics discussed today, but it is unlikely that the volcanic eruption of 2010 in iceland has influenced the position of the jet stream.
