David Bowie being painted on to the side of Morley’s in Brixton. Picture by Kaylene Alder
The David Bowie mural in Brixton, inspired by the cover to Aladdin Sane. Picture by Sarah Cook.A mural depicting one of Brixton’s most famous offspring, David Bowie, is being painted on the side of Morley’s department store, Brixton Road, today.
These pictures, taken by Sarah Cook and Kaylene Alder, show the image is of Bowie on the cover of his 1973 album Aladdin Sane.
The rock god lived at 40 Stansfield Road, Brixton, from his birth in 1947 until 1953.
I popped down to have a look. Maurice in ladies lingerie is behind it.
Why is Maurice standing behind the mural and why is he wearing ladies’ lingerie?
I’m afraid I do find that extremely funny.
Whoever is behind the mural will be pretty squashed up against that brick wall.
