Tiny Brixton, the small in-house venue showcasing big talents at Brixton’s Raw Material music charity, is reopening after a million-pound-plus refit.
A sold-out launch event at the Robsart Street HQ of Raw Material off Brixton Road on 1 February will be hosted by comedian Ali Woods.
After its £1.2m renovation Tiny Brixton will continue to feature big names in the world of music, comedy and spoken word with a focus on supporting South London artists and organisations.
The venue gives paid performance opportunities to local artists while raising money for Raw Material’s work with the local community – largely through operating its “Tiny Bar”, supported by a partnership with Brixton Brewery.
To celebrate the reopening, the brewery has created Tempo Lager, a limited-edition Tiny Brixton beer, and donated 500 cans to the bar to sell. The special beer is also available to buy from the brewery’s online shop and in its taproom on Brixton Station Road.
“This renovation has been a huge labour of love with so much thought on how to share the space with our existing community whilst opening our doors for more people to enjoy our work,” said Amy Taylor, business director of Raw Material and Tiny Brixton. “We want Tiny Brixton to be a platform for all artists to share their work and their talent.”
