Karaoke, a Christmas jumper contest and a magnificent feast made the Brixton Immortals Domino Club’s (BIDC) seasonal celebration a very special event.
Kicking off at 5pm with a buffet and prosecco reception, guests were greeted warmly and invited to participate in a festive Christmas jumper photoshoot for a competition later in the evening.
Lambeth mayor John-Paul Ennis was welcomed to the club’s refurbished premises on Coldharbour Lane by George Palmer, one of BIDC’s senior founding members, who introduced him to club members and gave him a brief tour of the building.
The mayor spent time mingling with the BIDC team and members, taking photos, and expressing his enthusiasm for a potential collaboration with the club on some projects for schools in the new year.
Before departing for his next engagement, the mayor praised the club’s efforts for the community.
As more guests arrived, the Christmas jumper competition heated up, adding a festive buzz to the atmosphere. Background music set the tone for the much-anticipated karaoke showcase.
Dinner was a standout moment. Jerky, a dedicated Somerleyton resident, volunteer, and the club’s talented resident cook, prepared a delicious feast that had everyone returning for seconds.
The karaoke session was a massive hit, electrifying the room with incredible performances and energetic duets that left the audience demanding more.
Following the musical fun, the Christmas jumper competition took centre stage, with rounds of enthusiastic applause eventually crowning Ozzy, a reserved BIDC senior member, as the crowd’s favourite.
The event continued with a raffle then DJs took over, keeping the party alive well into the early hours of Sunday morning.
The night was a resounding success, offering something for everyone and leaving attendees with lasting memories of fun, laughter, and community spirit.
His happiness was infectious …
The effort put into the Christmas jumpers was exceptional, making it a tough decision for the four independent judges.
From the photos taken on entry, seven finalists were shortlisted: Sible; sisters Alicia and Sharon; Sharon; Nick; Sobers; and Ozzy.
After some very exciting and vocal voting, Ozzy emerged as the winner, and his happiness was infectious.
