Brixton’s Vida Walsh centre on Saltoun Road, across from the Black Cultural Archives, will host a Black History Month event on Thursday (17 October) linking Black liberation and Palestine.
Speakers will include
- Zainab Abbas, A founding member of Brixton Black Women’s Group and co-founder of The Nakba Memorial Foundation
- Hassina Malik, Lambeth Unison Black Workers Group
- Myriam Kane, co-founder of The Black Liberation Alliance.
Organised by the Lambeth & Wandsworth Palestine Solidarity Campaign, the event, a fundraiser for Palestine, will explore links of solidarity between Black and Palestinian communities, including Brixton’s historic anti-apartheid movement and Nelson Mandela.
Snacks and drinks will be available and fundraising items for sale.
