A public hearing on plans for a 20-storey tower in the centre of Brixton is due to be held on Friday 21 July, more than a year since the previously scheduled hearing was suddenly postponed.
Jules Pipe, London’s deputy mayor for planning, regeneration and skills, will consider the planning application by the Amsterdam-based firm AG Hondo Popes Road BV, a joint venture between a small company, Hondo Enterprises, and the large Angelo Gordon (AG) investment company with its main headquarters in New York.
In May, campaigners against plans for the tower on Pope’s Road on the current site of Sports Direct said the company and its planning advisers had missed several deadlines set by the Great London Authority.
London mayor Sadiq Khan took over the planning application after it was agreed by Lambeth council in November 2020.
