Brixton Chamber Orchestra, in association the Brixton business improvement district (BID), will present a free Night at the Opera in Trinity Gardens on Saturday (20 August).
Starting at 6pm, the BCO’s first opera gala will feature exceptional young singers Kathleen Nic Dhiarmada, soprano; Emma Jüngling, mezzo-soprano; Dominick Felix, tenor; and Jacob Phillips, baritone, conducted by orchestra director Matthew O’Keeffe.
Their arias, ensembles and overtures from operas in Italian and French will include excerpts from Verdi’s La Traviata and Rigoletto, Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte and The Marriage of Figaro, Bizet’s Carmen, Gounod’s Faust, and Delibes’ Lakmé.
Limited seating will available, so bring a chair if you can.
Picnics and drinks, children and dogs – all are welcome, says the orchestra.
The orchestra has recently opened he main stage at the Lambeth Country Show with local rappers and singers and mounted its annual free tour of Lambeth housing estates.
