‘Ballad to reading’, the new exhibition at the Library, is a group show of the work of 24 artists, curated by Celia Martin-Perez and Edwina Hannam, which explores and celebrates reading. It’s difficult to think of a more appropriate subject for an art show in the Library.
Painting, sculpture, photography, prints and collage are among the range of media and techniques which offer a diverse set of perspectives on this almost universal activity.

There is a mix of charm, humour, serious comment and cleverness. Don’t miss ‘Don’t Judge a Book by its Cover’- Edwina Hannam’s witty play on Penguin Book covers. Kate Newington’s wonderful skills are on show in her collage ‘Russell Tovey’, actor, art lover, and recently published writer.

‘Ex Libris’ is an example of Reed Wilson’s fine technique, as are Anna Park’s elegant charcoal drawings of Solomon Swift. And there is much else to see, ponder and enjoy.
