Local charity Code 7 has two opportunities for young people from Lambeth to participate in a 24-week programme to progress their personal development, leadership, employability and enterprise skills.
The charity provides performing arts mentoring, education and training for underprivileged young people in South London.
It specialises in providing activities in music composition, drama and film production as well as key skills, such as English and maths. It supports this with a mentoring service helping with the young people’s social issues.
Both of the new projects have been designed to elevate Black youths, giving them the opportunity to learn from and engage with successful Black role models, increasing their aspirations and opening doors of opportunities through training and mentorship. Applicants should be aged from 14 to 24.
Code 7 has both work experience and paid youth trainee positions to offer.
Young people who are interested should be committed to attending and participating in weekly training sessions, completing personal development plans, engaging with staff and mentors and completing the full 24-week programme.
Additional incentives include enterprise grants, work placements, signposting and post-project support on successful completion of the project.
The programme is funded by the London Mayor’s Office.
