Each week our music editor Dave Randall picks an album (with a local connection) you need to hear …
Funky Kingston by Toots and the Maytals
Were it not for Covid-19 and the lockdown, then last month we would have been treated to ska & rock-steady legends Toots and the Maytals live at the Brixton Academy.
The band have a new album coming out in August, and judging by the first single it’s going to be very good indeed.
My pick of the week is one of their absolute classics from 1972.
When a responsibly small and socially distanced group of friends get together on a hot summer’s day, there is, in my opinion, no better way to get the party started than playing Funky Kingston.
