One of the first new tenants of the refurbished Atlantic Road arches will be an up-market chicken shop with local origins and an alcohol licence – Other Side Fried, due to open on Monday 2 December.
Founders Matt Harris and Tommy Kempton started the brand, until now only a pop-up or kiosk, five years ago when living together in the area.
They sold their buttermilk fried chicken burgers at Brixton night market on Windrush Square from a converted ambulance. Their first permanent site was in Pop Brixton.
The Atlantic Road shop, once the home of the late lamented Continental Deli and, temporarily, the Brixton Pound, is now set up as a 16-cover takeaway. A new menu of “signature” burgers, strips and sauces will include a vegan burger and vegan “dirty tots”.
Other Side Fried also has kiosks at Leicester Square, Peckham Levels and Camden Market.
