Wednesday 26 October gives Brixton residents a chance to have their say in shaping and improving Lambeth’s health and social care services. It is the Annual General Meeting of Healthwatch Lambeth and it is open to all Lambeth residents and community and healthcare organisations in the borough. Registration for the AGM is at 5.30pm at Bolney Meadow Community Centre, 31 Bolney Street, Vauxhall SW8 1EZ where refreshments will be provided. The meeting itself is from 6pm to 8pm and you can can register to attend here.
If you have not heard of Healthwatch, it is a national network of organisations set up as a requirement of the Government’s Health and Social Care Act 2012. The Act instructed every local authority to fund its own independent health and care champion to ensure the voices of local people are heard when it comes to local health and social care services.
Healthwatch Lambeth was set up in 2013 and is part of that national network. It grew out of Lambeth Involvement Network (LINk), and it addresses inequalities in health and social care and ensures local services are appropriate for Lambeth’s diverse communities.
Healthwatch Lambeth is a membership organisation. It is open to all Lambeth residents, as well as voluntary and community organisations, and people who work in or use these services in the borough.
As a membership organisation, Healthwatch Lambeth’s work is informed by its members. It is led by a board of Trustees and run by a team of seven staff alongside a range of volunteers. To read more about their work and opportunities , and to get involved go to www.healthwatchlambeth.org.uk
