Andrea Brown founder of It’s Your Local Market CIC was awarded funds from the Evening Standard Dispossessed Fund just over a year ago to create a community market in Angell Town Estate, Brixton.
The stallholders provided ‘Lambeth Made’ products sourced and made by local people. The market also hosted events and markets in localities around Lambeth: Max Roach Park, Wyck Gardens, Rush Common, Loughborough Junction and Windrush Square.
Andrea Brown said: “In the last year we have worked with some incredible woman in the community just to name a few Nadia Jones, Victoria Sherwin, Anne Wilding, Lorraine Jones, Rev Rosemary Mallett, Maria Santos and Anthea Massey. Most importantly our women traders in Angell Town Estate, business start ups Natasha Edwards, Hermina O’Connor, Fatimah Muhammed and Charmaine Grant who have developed their businesses through It’s Your Local Market.”
