Barrister and banker Miranda Brawn, vice chair of Brixton’s Black Cultural Archives, has won this year’s “Awesome You” inspirational role model award from Women on the Crossroads, a social enterprise network.
The first winner, 107-year-old Irene Sinclair, handed the award on at a ceremony at the Hilton, Tower Bridge
Miranda Brawn won the award for her contribution to her community and work on diversity initiatives, especially race diversity, in the UK workforce outside her full-time job.
Her foundation launched the Miranda Brawn diversity leadership scholarship in January this year. It helps future black and minority ethnic leaders from 14 to 21 to become future successes through work experience, funding and mentoring which includes sponsorship from major companies alongside Brawn’s own funding.
She is co-founder of Colorintech, a non-profit company aiming to bring diversity to the London innovation economy by connecting students with top technology companies and start-ups.
